When you elect politicians who focus solely on staying elected, they curry favor with rich people.
When politicians curry favor with rich people, they get lots of money.
When politicians get lots of money, they do really stupid stuff.
When politicians do really stupid stuff, the people suffer and America becomes weaker.
When the people suffer and America becomes weaker, we have Stupi-geddon.
When we have Stupi-geddon, government belongs to the highest bidders.
When government belongs to the highest bidders, we’ve lost America.
Don’t lose America.
Vote for politicians who will amend the Constitution to allow for regulation of money in politics.

Ed. note: There is much in America that needs fixing and we are on a path to continually fail to make things better. It is my goal to make a difference – perhaps to be a catalyst for things to get better. That is the reason for these posts. To accomplish the goal requires reaching many thousands of people and a robust dialogue. Please help by passing this along and encouraging others to do the same. Thanks. JA

One Response to Stupi-geddon

During the mythical times of the “Founding Fathers” elected officials were expected to be citizen politicians, not professional office holders. Their reward for their service was the thanks of their fellow citizens, not huge salaries, platinum level medical insurance policies, and golden parachute like retirement plans – let alone ridiculous book contracts, outrageous speaker’s fees, and/or larcenous contracts as Washington lobbyists. Because Congress so feared the likes of Franklin Roosevelt they imposed term limits on the Presidency. It is time “We the People” demand term limits on all elected officials. It may not end the stupidity, bigotry in office, racial prejudice, hatred of women, support of the NRA, the desire to curry favor from Big Money by elected officials, but it will limit the time any one idiot, or bigot, will be in office. If elected officials had to serve the people and not corporations and big money wanting to be treated as people there might be some hope for America as a true democracy.
