Now That The Balloons Have Deflated
POST 1314

Donald Trump Is Not, Was Not and Never Will Be . . .
. . . a good boy who follows the rules. He has always cheated and lied and has rarely been held to account. Now the people have done it to him again – made him a loser. You know what happened the last time we did that. He sicced his thugs on our Capitol to kill, injure and vandalize, trying to overturn our democracy so that he could be a dictator. What do you think will happen this time?

This Election Has Answered THE Question

This stunning rebuke of Donald Trump isn’t just political; it’s personal and it’s dazzlingly important.
We The People have answered the Key Question of every election following 2016: “Had enough?” Now, at last, we have firmly answered the question with a “YES!” Here’s why this matters.
If we had had enough of Trump in 2024, Kamala Harris would have won that contest and,
- There would have been no tariffs to spike our prices and alienate our trading partners.
- We would still be a member in good standing in NATO instead of being the unreliable nation.
- We would have helped Ukraine far more fully to win that awful war and Russia would have paid a terrible price for Putin’s war of vanity and greed.
- There would be no war in Iran and our now 23 dead and 865 wounded military would still be alive, well and unharmed, as would thousands of Iranians, including those 47 schoolgirls. 73 schoolboys and 26 teachers whom we killed with a Tomahawk missile on Feb. 28, 2026.
- Gas and diesel would be around $3.30 per gallon.
- Our farmers wouldn’t be paying enormous prices for fertilizer, they’d still have a market for their soy beans in China and they wouldn’t be worried about whether they’ll lose the farm.
- About a million desperately poor, former recipients of our USAID support would still be alive.
- About 5 million American children wouldn’t be hungry and instead would be getting SNAP benefits so that they could eat breakfast.
- Hundreds of rural hospitals and clinics would still be in business serving the people, rather than shuttered, making people have to drive hundreds of miles for healthcare. Do try not to have an emergency.
- We would have had a strong response to measles and few to none of us would have died of it. We would have a competent Secretary of Health and Human Services focused on good science and medicine and we would be prepared for the next pandemic.
- There would have been no DOGE to slash the agencies that protect us and there wouldn’t have been cuts to funding for the scientific research that brings us enormous benefit.
- Our private, personal information would not have been stolen from every agency DOGE raided and then given to the Trump administration.
- The White House wouldn’t be pay-to-play and we wouldn’t have a corruption crisis.
- There would have been no insider trading.
- The East Wing of the White House would still be standing proudly and serving as it always had.
- The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool would have been in good condition continuously. There would have been no failure of a poor quality liner or baseless claims of vandalism.
- The Oval Office would still look classy instead of looking like a pimp’s den.
- Jackie Kennedy’s Rose Garden would still be blooming instead of there being a mass of concrete in its place.
- Little guy investors wouldn’t have lost millions of dollars on Trump’s crypto scams.
- The courts wouldn’t have been clogged with bogus lawsuits, like the three of them filed against James Comey; like Trump’s attempt to corrupt the Alaska Senate race; and like the Trump effort to have 20,000 citizens prevented from voting in California. Lst in the Comments section below your own favorite stupid Trump court actions and other horribles that wouldn’t have happened if we had had enough two years ago.
Quotes From Wednesday – The Morning After
“The American people have rejected depravity.” – Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA)
“Lawyer up!” – A message to Trump and his allies from Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA), incoming chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
“Eight months of war with Iran. The achievement? Regime change in America!” – author unknown
“I wasn’t on the Ballot [sic] and if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE!” – Donald Trump
“Guess my election-interfering space lasers didn’t work this time.” – Elon Musk
“I don’t want to be in the minority. I’m a Republican. We hate minorities.” – Satire from Andy Borowitz about House Speaker Mike Johnson. Borowitz claimed further, “Mike Johnson Begs God to Rapture Him Immediately.”
“CLEAN UP IN AISLE . . . EVERY AISLE!!! – Sheila Markin of The Markin Report.
“Across the country, Americans demanded change. They want lower costs, affordable health care, and accountability for this Administration’s recklessness and corruption. Yesterday, they voted to make that change possible.” – Rep. Brad Schneider, (D, IL-10)
“It’s going to be, not only one of the biggest, but it’ll be the most beautiful ballroom, I think, anywhere in the world.” – Donald Trump. He didn’t have even a word about what is important to the American people.
“The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night.” – Vice-president J.D. Vance, distancing himself from the catastrophic Republican loss.
“. . . voters on Tuesday did not just repudiate Trump and MAGA. They also repudiated the system of politics created by the Supreme Court. . .” – Inae Oh of Mother Jones, quoting Pema Levy.
“Subpoenas” – A warning from Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR), incoming chair of the Senate Finance Committee.
What’s Next?
Now that the election is over, this is not the time to sit back and pat ourselves on the back. This is the time for our Democratic elected officials to:
- Continue to over-communicate with us as they did while campaigning. Keep us informed. Tell us what they’re doing. Point fingers at – shame – those who think their job is to prevent anything from getting better for We The People. Smear them with the truth until they hurt from it.
- NOW is the time to put the hammer down on Trump the fascist. Ask for our help to get the right things done. We don’t want to be sidelined. We voted in huge numbers because we’re on the right side of democracy and we damn well won’t sit idle when there’s so much to be done to preserve it.
- Learn to write a meaty and compelling newsletter. Stop telling us what you need – like yet more money from us – and start doing things for We The People. If you blow this opportunity to get good stuff done and to stop
bad stuff from being done, we’ll remember. Don’t make us regret trusting you.

The Fine Print:
- Writings quoted or linked from my posts reflect a point I want to make, at least in part. That does not necessarily mean that I endorse or agree with everything in such writings.
- There are lots of smart, well-informed people. Sometimes we agree; sometimes we don’t. Search for others’ views and decide for yourself.
- Errors in fact, grammar, spelling and punctuation are all embarrassingly mine, but I do wish that I could blame someone else. Glad to have your corrections.
- I am neither offered nor do I accept funding of any type from candidates, online blabbers, organizations with or without any position or opinion or from any other origin other than from my own meager resources.
- Book links to Amazon or Barnes & Noble are provided for reference only. Please purchase your books through your local mom & pop bookstore. Keep them and your town or neighborhood vibrant.
- Clicking on most pics in these posts will take you to the source material.
- Do not look to these posts for “both sides” idiocy. I don’t have life to waste on such foolishness, such disingenuous nonsense and you shouldn’t either. You can find “both sides” misdirection in any cowardly publication. I post what I believe to be true, sarcasm and snark sometimes excepted. I make no pretense nor allow any space for the idiocy of insisting views to be somehow balanced for reporting or opinion presentation fairness, because doing so would be grossly unfair and of no value.
- If you disagree with anything I write, if you think I’m inappropriately biased, power up and put it in the Comments section. But see Point #9 below. On the other hand, let’s agree that I, like you, am biased.
- Comments offered by readers, whether in agreement with my opinions or opposing them, are encouraged and greatly appreciated. All comments are reviewed prior to going live. I reserve the right to edit for readability, punctuation, typos and voluntary idiocy and to exclude those comments I deem inappropriate or offensive solely for someone to be offensive. It’s my post, my rules.
- We do not sell, give away, lend, share or otherwise allow the disclosure of the identity of our subscribers or of their information. Never have, never will. That should not have to be said, but the times have taught us that the words do need to be declared. At the last, all we can cling to is trust in one another.
- Responsibility for the content of these posts is unequivocally, totally, unavoidably mine. Unless it’s a guest essay, in which case, blame the guest.
