Ed. note: Please help – see the note below and pass this along so that we make the kind of difference that needs to be made. America thanks you.
Reading time – 41 seconds . . .
There they stand, the hopeful – hopeless? – wielders of sticks, lurching and whacking at the piñatas of political issues, wishing that their mighty blows will crack open and let drop at their feet an action figure costume. They believe that costume will grant them unlimited power and control and that the Oval Office will magically be theirs.
Say hello to today’s pretenders to the throne in 2016. And pay special attention to their ultra-crafty remaking of themselves, frequently in perfect contradiction (“to say against”) of other intentionally misleading, ultra-crafty things they’ve said to some different audience. Perhaps they believe that recording devices have not yet been invented. More likely, though, they believe we are too ignorant, lazy or stupid to notice. But notice we will, as the fact checkers have their way and the action figure costumes fall apart, revealing the disingenuous self-promoter beneath who doesn’t want to serve, but only to denigrate, bully and line others’ pockets with cash at your expense.
The whacking at piñatas would be humorous and entertaining, were it not for the destruction it causes.
The key as you endure the inane political rhetoric of this hyper-extended (make that “never-ending”) election season is that nearly all of the blather is about the self-serving candidates, never about you nor about America except in some childish idealistic or apocalyptically frightening way. Our job is to find one who speaks to our circumstances and to the betterment of America. If you and I fail in this we will be kicking The Dream to the gutter for a sackful of nothing and relegating America to suffer a self-deluded figurehead and all the abandonment of the American people that implies.
Get up and get active.

Ed. note: There is much in America that needs fixing and we are on a path to continually fail to make things better. It is my goal to make a difference – perhaps to be a catalyst for things to get better. That is the reason for these posts. To accomplish the goal requires reaching many thousands of people and a robust dialogue. Please help by offering your comments, as well as by passing this along and encouraging others to subscribe and do the same. Thanks. JA

Local city government,
Before you answer my question about using our own website to allow the citizens of any local government to know why they are voting for each candidate on their ballot; I would like to share with all of you, what our first President, George Washington, told us prior to leaving his office after 8 years of actually using our Constitution as a guide. Yes; his Farewell Speech has to be the most powerful speech anyone in the world has ever given. I strongly recommend everyone to read it; it is long but says who he thought, we should be.
“ . . . that your union and brotherly affection may be perpetual; that the free constitution, which is the work of your hands, may be sacredly maintained; that its administration in every department may be stamped with wisdom and virtue; than, in fine, the happiness of the people of these States, under the auspices of liberty, may be made complete, by so careful a preservation and so prudent a use of this blessing, as will acquire to them the glory of recommending it to the applause, the affection, and adoption of every nation, which is yet a stranger to it.”
We are looking for our elected officials to allow any of us the opportunity to lead, without the requirement of wasting huge amounts of money telling us who they are, when they can do it free; we all paid for this web site; let’s use it.
We the people are allowing our lives to be dictated by only a few. This has to change, if we want to be real American Citizens of our Democracy, then let’s not divide us as Democrats, Republicans, Catholics or Muslims or . . . Or even the East side or West side.
If this vote is yes; then it’s up to all the people to affect change. If we can do this turnaround in just one local election; having a huge voter turn-out and record numbers of new voters added to our pool; I envision the rest of America will want to do this too. No longer will the wealthy and special interest groups have the power to depress anyone without us allowing it.
If the people respond with their individual vote for the candidate they support, without any negative feelings, WIN OR LOSE; we won our battle.
A vote to allow the City to use our Free Website, allows each citizen the opportunity to learn who they want to have their vote. This is something we will have earned through our own work and collectively become real Americans.
State of Illinois’s candidates Guide 2015 tells the candidates how they can spend their campaign money and the required records. Only Section 6 Misc. tells them what THEY CAN do while campaigning; but it’s VOLUNTARILY.
Fair Campaign Practices Act:
A candidate or committee may choose to abide by provisions of campaigning outlined in the Fair Campaign Practices Act. This is a voluntary statement made and filed prior to an election, vowing that the person(s) making the statement will conduct a positive rather than a negative campaign. State Wide candidates file this statement with the State Board of Elections. Local candidates file this statement with the local County Clerk’s office.
If we CAN’T use the website as suggested, our Democracy can still be bought by the highest bidder and we continue; business as usual.
Show the World we are still a Democracy; of, by and for the people.
Thank you for this opportunity and GOD BLESS ALL AMERICANS, STILL LIVING SAFELY IN THEIR HOME AND STILL FREE.
