Betrayal Avenged

WWPReading time – 19 seconds  .  .  .

Kudos go to CBS for their exposé of the rip off of veterans and Americans thinking they were contributing to the rehabilitation of our wounded vets when they donate to Wounded Warrior Project. The board of directors of Wounded Warrior Project has fired CEO Steve Nardizzi and COO Al Giordano for their extravagant waste, according to Jim Warren of The Poynter Institute. That action followed not only CBS’s story, but also that of the New York Times and a February 14, 2016 blog post on this site.

Don’t you love it when people doing bad things are held accountable?

Now, if we could just apply that to our politicians who paralyze our country and prevent any of our vexing challenges from being met, to the banksters who laid low our country with their fraud and nearly brought down the entire world economy, to the climate change liars, to the people who profit from locking up our fellow citizens and to so many others who serve their own short term interests and do lasting harm to all of the rest of us.

It is my goal to make a difference – perhaps to be a catalyst for things to get better. That is the reason for these posts. To accomplish the goal requires reaching many thousands of people and a robust dialogue.

The board of directors, who were apparently completely ignorant of Nardizzi and Giordano’s conduct fired them. Really, then what exactly did they do at board meetings? I wonder what Steve and Al’s severance packages are, and what the expense accounts of the board members who fired them are. Maybe the board members just got jealous.

Perhaps Steve and Al should now consider political jobs. Elected politicians have no one looking over their shoulders and firing them before they are paid in full for their employment contracts (terms of office). If Steve and Al are smart, they should go for being members of Congress, especially Senators. Senators have a guaranteed job for six years, receive up to six million for each year for expenses, work whenever they feel like it, and meet with people who present them with even more lucrative jobs after they lose an election. However, they just can’t collect money, but need to collect voters with promises to do what they think they want them to do keep their jobs.

So do we indict the Project, or only its top leadership? Is this a well-meaning program being exploited by a few opportunists, or is it in the nature of the organization? I’d like to know more.

By the way, did you catch Elizabeth Warren’s “Do Your Job” speech the other day? Incredibly powerful… and from what I saw, which was most of it, the camera was fixed on the Senator, quite likely concealing the fact that the chamber was empty. Would that she were running for the Top Job! In addition to her brilliance, none of Hillary’s baggage or Bernie’s labels. This isn’t just about a less fettered path to election; It’s about powerful leadership.
